In response to Taiwan’s 2050 net-zero emissions target, the domestic demand for green-collar professionals has grown significantly. However, the rapid emergence of training programs with varying quality has made it difficult for the public to verify the reliability of available information. To address this issue, Minister Peng Chi-Ming of the Ministry of Environment has instructed the National Environmental Research Academy to integrate resources across government agencies and establish a one-stop, inter-ministerial platform dedicated to net-zero initiatives. This official platform aims to counteract the confusion caused by unregulated training courses and allows users to quickly access accurate and up-to-date information on government-certified green credentials and training programs. The platform is designed to support individuals aspiring to join the green workforce.
Empowering aspiring individuals to become green-collar professionals — Green-collar talents play a crucial role in Taiwan’s net-zero transition. According to the National Development Council, Taiwan will need approximately 460,000 additional green-collar workers by 2030, 560,000 by 2035, and over 700,000 by 2050.
To address the labor demand for Taiwan’s 2050 net-zero transformation, the Ministry of Environment has launched the nation’s most comprehensive one-stop platform for green-collar talent information. This platform integrates the latest and most reliable resources from various ministries, including training programs, certification systems, and verification tools. It seeks to protect the public from misinformation and uncertified training services while also integrating job listings from both public agencies and private recruitment platforms to facilitate easy access to green-collar job opportunities.
